Description

French carriage clock from the late 19th century in good condition.

Case: Brass or gilt bronze with beveled glass panels on all sides, allowing visibility of the internal mechanism.
Dial: White enamel with black Roman numerals and a pair of Breguet-style hands for the time.
Lower Dial: A smaller subsidiary dial for alarm setting, marked from 1 to 12.
Handle: Ornate foldable handle on top for portability—a classic feature of carriage clocks.
The face is beautifully decorated with an engraved or embossed floral and scroll motif, suggesting it was a luxury piece.

Visible Movement: The open sides and back panel expose a mechanical movement with visible gears, springs, and levers.
Winding: The bottom image shows the winding arbor (hole) for the key, which is likely a dual-purpose key to wind both the clock and the alarm.
Bell: On the base, a polished bell indicates that this clock chimes.
